DougieFree

DougieFree has been playing music since his infant hands would allow him to grip drum sticks or hold a guitar.  Before he was ten years old, he began playing drums in the family band alongside his four brothers and sisters.  In the coming years he would become proficient in guitar pickin' and the art of song, playing everything from weddings to county fairs to (at the time) smokey bar rooms of the Midwest.  Throughout his childhood and teenage years Dougie was ever present in just about every local musical faculty, including church, school, family, and various social events including vibrant Wisconsin taverns and music festivals.  Dougie earned his way through college by playing music each summer.  After completing a significant collegiate wrestling career at Indiana State University and graduate school in Arizona, he pursued a career in business operations that would take him to every corner of the country and eventually allow him to settle in the Bay Area with his family in 2003.  Everywhere he's been and everywhere he goes, he and his guitar add life and laughter to any party.

His playing has the effect of joy and healing - fulfilling that central function the age old practice of music and song has provided human kind over thousands of years.  He plays songs that tell the story of our country, our world, and the land from which we came and to which we will return.  Where music is easily confined by categories, genres, associations, or ideas, DougieFree breaks down the walls and brings back a simple feeling that makes music such a positive and powerful force: freedom.
